Advocacy/Advising

The Center advocates on behalf of students, faculty, and staff to promote and support initiatives that benefit the university community. Emphasis is given to issues of diversity, inclusion, and pluralism.

We also serve to provide students with advice on a range of issues including their cultural, academic, social, and professional development.

Film and Book Collections

PRLACC offers a growing collection of Latino and Latin American films, books, and journals, which are available to students, staff, and faculty. Visit our Center or call us to find out more about our titles and reservations.

Presentations

Our presentations are designed to facilitate a discussion about issues impacting Latinos, dispel myths and stereotypes, and prepare students and staff to be better equipped to excel in a growing, multicultural society. The presentations are in an interactive format and are usually between 40 and 60 minutes in length. Presentations can be modified to fit the needs of the group. Please contact us 2 weeks in advance to schedule a presentation.

Panels/Tours

We enjoy having groups tour the Center. Tours are approximately 15 minutes in length, but can be longer depending on questions from visitors. Special tours requiring presentations or panels should be submitted 2 weeks in advance.

Space/Facility

The Center is a home away from home to many students. In addition to our administrative offices, we have a resource lounge, a computer room, a program room, a conference room, and a kitchen. The program room and conference rooms may be reserved. For reservations, please read the Facility Use Policy and complete the Facility Reservation Form below and email it to us.

Program Room
The program room is available for reservations and is primarily used for special events and meetings with a capacity of 80 persons. When there are no scheduled programs, visitors can study in this area.

Computer Room
PRLACC has a computer room for public use equipped with nine computers. The Center is also wireless.

Conference Room
This room fits meetings and groups of up to 14 people. Faculty and students may use this space throughout the semester to hold their small classes and/or meetings.

Resource Lounge
The resource lounge houses our film and book collections. The space also has a television with cable TV, DVD/VHS players, games, microwave, and a radio.
